Post-Masters Nurse Educator Certificate Program

The Post-Masters Nurse Educator Certificate Program is a 12 credit hour graduate program for those who have a Masters degree in nursing in another specialization, but wish to gain knowledge and experience in the roles of a nurse educator. Students who start in the Spring semester may complete the certificate in as little as 2 semesters (Spring and Fall).

The certificate curriculum provides knowledge and skills needed to function in academic, community, patient, and staff development nurse educator roles. The curriculum includes five course, three online didactic courses (equipment requirements for Centra) that address teaching/learning theory and skills, knowledge of curriculum and program development and issues in higher education and two education practicums, which can be completed in the student’s local community. The practicums provide mentored teaching experiences as a clinical nursing instructor and in the areas or community, patient, or staff education.

Admission

To be considered for admission to the Nurse Educator Certificate Program the student should apply to Missouri State University’s Graduate College. Once accepted into the Graduate College, the student should apply to the Nurse Educator Specialization Program and complete the admission requirements for the certificate program as outlined in the Graduate Catalog.
