Dr. Arbindra Rimal
Dr. Rimal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agriculture. He received his doctorate from University of Florida with primary emphasis in the agricultural marketing. His master’s degree was received from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He also has an MBA degree from the Asian Institute of Management. Dr. Rimal teaches in the agricultural economics and agribusiness with primary courses in marketing of agricultural products, agribusiness management, and agricultural pricing.
Dr. Rimal has conducted economic research with emphasis on food safety in relation to the use of irradiation technology, consumer selection of food, meat consumption, food labeling, use of ultrasound technology in beef marketing, genetically modified (GM) food and food security. His research work has been published in refereed journals, conference proceedings/abstracts, and working papers.
Dr. Rimal has advised the agribusiness committee of Springfield Chamber of Commerce regarding the economic significance of agribusiness for the local economy. In this regard, he has recently completed two economic impact studies dealing with the impact of agribusiness on the local economy and the importance of beef industry for the local economy. |
