Sociology and Anthropology

CRM 360 899, 3 hrs
Criminal Courts in Society
Prerequisite: CRM 210 or permission of instructor. Principles, processes, and structures found in juvenile and adult courts. Sociological studies of courtroom personnel as well as contemporary criminological issues involving the courts are also examined.

dr. marvin prosonoInstructor: Dr. Marvin Prosono

Dr. Marvin Prosono, originally from New York, received his B.A. from Stanford University in psychology and his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, San Francisco in 1990, and joined the sociology, anthropology, and criminology facutly in 1990. His areas of expertise include medical sociology, forensic psychiatry, deviance, criminology, mental health, and the sociology of law. His most current research is a study of Holocaustism as a religious movement.

Dr. Prosono has taught SOC 150 (Principles of Sociology), SOC 302 (Statistics for the Social Sciences), SOC 325 (Sociological Theory), SOC 341 (Medical Sociology), SOC 360 (Individual and Society), SOC 380 (Sociology of Law), SOC 498 (Senior Seminar), CAS 320 (Causes of Crime and Delinquency), and CAS 360 (Criminal Courts in Society). He has served as the editor of the Mental Health Section newsletter of the American Sociological Association and is an active member of the International Sociological Association.
