Instructional Media Technology
IMT 563 899, 2 hrs
Technology Administration and Management
This course is a part of the Instructional
Technology Certification Program. This course is designed to provide
technology specialists, technology coordinators, library media specialists,
school administrators and educators with a working knowledge of the administrative
processes and concerns of operating a media/technology support facility.
The content of this course is primarily structured for educational institutions
but could be utilized for instructional and training systems in many types
of industrial, religious, medical and corporate organizations that teach
and train. It will cover a broad spectrum of duties that should be a part
of the technologist's knowledge base for coordinating an instructional
media technology program including administration and management procedures,
coordination and development of partnerships, planning tech support, evaluation
of programs, leadership skills, grant writing, strategic planning, change
management, and promotion of technology programs as well as the overall
coordination of such services. This is also a required course for the
Masters Degree in Instructional Media Technology.

Dr. Michels is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Media Technology at Missouri State University in Springfield. She was the Instructional Design Coordinator and Media Center
Coordinator for Chadron State College in Nebraska where she was responsible for faculty and staff training and development as well as Media Center operations. Before that, she taught at the
University of Wyoming in Laramie. It was there she received her MS in Instructional Technology and Ph.D. in Education.
Although Dr. Michels' interests have always been closely linked to education, she has had various experiences as an instructional designer, teacher, and Museum Director. Her BS degree is
in art education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She finds the art-media connection to be very useful in the instructional technology field.
Since starting in this field, Dr. Michels has presented at conferences around the country. She has presented several times at the Association for Educational Communications & Technology,
the International Visual Literacy Association and for many college and local organizations. |
