Issues and Trends in Literacy Education
This course is designed for educators and administrators who want knowledge of current issues and trends in literacy education in order to analyze cutting-edge research for informed decision-making instructional practices. Participants enrolled in this course will focus on significant issues and trends in instruction, assessment, and political perspectives. In addition, a brief history of literacy will be studied in order to form a foundation for current issues and trends. This course is offered online and asynchronous.

Missouri residents: $265 per credit hour
Non-Missouri residents: $265 per credit hour
| Instructor: Dr. Deanne Camp
Dr. Deanne Camp is Professor of Reading at Missouri State University, where she is Director of the Graduate Reading Program. She has been an educator for 29 years—the first 11 as an elementary teacher. She has taught both undergraduate and graduate level reading courses. She is also Director of the Literacy Assistance Program (LAP) where struggling readers are paired with graduate students for individual tutoring in a clinical setting. She enjoys visiting elementary school classrooms, taking notes and photos, and sharing those best practices with her graduate students. She also enjoys playing golf and visiting her two grandchildren who live in Texas.
