Visual Impairment Personnel Preparation Program
Admission information for Visual Impairment Personnel Preparation Program
The College of Education in conjunction with Missouri State Online is pleased to offer the state's only personnel preparation program which leads to Missouri certification in Blind and Partially Sighted. The Visually Impaired Program (VIP) allows students in Missouri without a teaching certificate to earn their Initial Professional Certificate (IPC) in Visually Impaired, and also allows currently certified teachers in Missouri to add Visually Impaired certification to their existing certifications. Students from other states may also utilize the coursework in the VIP Program to fulfill requirements for certification in Visually Impaired with pre-approval from the Department of Education in their home state.
This program consists of 21 hours of online coursework for the added certification in Missouri, all of which can be counted toward the Masters of Science in Special Education. Persons needing to earn initial certification will be required to complete an additional 12 hours of specific education courses at Missouri State or at a College or University with a State-Approved Teacher Education program in their local area.
