BSE 610: Improvement of Instruction in Business Education Hi, I’m Heidi Perreault. Welcome to SMSU Online and to the course I’m directing BSE 610, Improvement of Instruction in Business Education. The course is designed for those who are in a Master’s program in Education with an emphasis in Business Ed. Others are welcome to take the class and use it as an elective in an educational program. Some of the topics we’ll be looking at will be using technology as a teaching and learning tool, performance assessment, work place readiness skills, problem solving, and developing partnership. Let me tell you a little bit about assignments. Some will be traditional, for example, a two-page paper, and the final will be a take-home. What will be a little bit different is how you’re going to submit your materials. They will be submitted electronically. Some will be posted to a web page. If you’ve used a web page in the past, this will be of no problem to you. If a web page is new to you, it will be a little challenging to you at first. But I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s part of our assessment on using technology as a teaching tool. Other than the traditional assignments and using the web page, you will be asked to do a discussion. Every week to two weeks, a new discussion topic will posted on our course web page and you’ll be ask to contribute to that discussion. I’ll give you frequent feedbacks so you’ll always know how you’re doing. But you’re welcome to ask me as well. My phone number and e-mail are available to you.
