CIS 661: Management Information Systems Hello, my name is Dr. Brahnam and I'm going to be your professor for the online version of Management Information Systems. The first thing I want to do is I want to congratulate you for signing up for this course. As you probably know, an online course is very different from a traditional course. First of all, you have to take a lot more responsibility for your own learning. Second of all, you're going to have to have excellent time management skills. And lastly, you have to be able to collaborate with people you may never even see--people in fact that might be anywhere in the world. So congratulations for doing this. As you well know, we live in a global world that is empowered by a technology that is rapidly changing. What this means to you is that you're going to have to constantly learn throughout your career. In fact, the career you have now is probably not going to be the career you will have when you retire--if you retire. So I'm going to help you out here on learning this material. And one way that I'm going to do that I'm going to provide you with a lot of tests that will help you in your goal of learning the materials. And also, I'm going to provide you with cutting-edge technology, i.e., a state-of-the-art message board. What I'll do periodically is I'll be seeding that message board with a number of articles that I hope you'll find interesting. But I also hope that you'll go out and find some interesting articles to present to the class. This enables me to learn from you and just like you, I've also got to keep my skills up-to-date. So I look forward to learning from you and hearing what you have to say on our message board online. So I wish you the best of luck. Thanks. |
